European trips, we are so lucky to be close to so many amazing countries. The best thing about visiting Europe is the fact that the flights are never that long! I know, I know, I'm a travel agent and I don't particularly like flying. SO yes a short flight is always a great big tick for me. This was actually really hard to choose and it may change but for now, in reverse order, they are as follows...
No 2 - Barcelona
I love Barcelona so much. For a small city, it has so much to offer and each area feel so unique.
La Ramblas is lively with street performers and entertainment, lots of cute little independent shops & cafes. Just off Las Ramblas, there is a square called Placa Reial (Royal Plaza) - a gorgeous square surrounded by restaurants and Al fresco dining and so much atmosphere.
There is amazing architecture to see, like gothic cathedrals and modernist creations. A great way to get in the sights, is to do a bike tour. You follow a tour guide, who will take you to all the must see sights around the city, plus give you all the interesting facts and stories about the places. I know, I know, not for everyone, but I am a total geek and bloody loved it!
There is the beach of course, which is lined with great restaurants, bars and clubs. I love the vibe down there in the day and then it transforms and comes more alive at night.
The W hotel on the beachfront is worth a visit. There is a great rooftop bar with stunning views of the coast and the city.
You can also visit the incredible Barcelona Stadium - Camp Nou. They have a great museum and tour and of course if you are lucky to be in the city when there is a game on, I would say it is a must!
I could go on and on but totally worth a visit if you haven't been. By far, one of my favourite places in Europe.
